Leavenworth, Washington

Leavenworth, Washington is a great place for a getaway all year round. Located on 940 Highway 2, you can enjoy Bavarian festivals, ski down the mountain, go river rafting, horseback riding, fishing, shop, taste wines, rock climb, & much more!
It's the best place in Washington to experience a bit of some German life with all the joy of still being in Washington State, and just a few hours from Seattle.
The culture in Leavenworth is real, and you're able to notice it by looking at all the buildings that are all around you. The colors, art, size, everything stands out, and it makes you wonder if youu're still in America.
One of the famous restaurants in Leavenworth is the Munchen Haus, famous for their delicious one of a kind hot dogs. And not just normal hot dogs you buy at the grocery store, costco, or even at a baseball game...their hot dogs are just like the ones from Germany. It's the only place in Leavenworth where you can actually expericene the amazing taste of a true hot dogs in all of Washington or even in the United States.
After you're done munching on y
our delicious hot dog, you can walk around to do some window shopping. There are many different types of stores in Leavenworth, including their own gift shops, but the different thing about Leavenworth compared to other vacationing places is that many other cultures are blended in as well. As you go around you might notice some Danish pastries, or Asian art being displayed, or live European music being played in the background as you walk along the side walk. The atmosphere as you walk seems to be extremely welcoming.
There are also other actives that are located outside of Leavenworth. From sking in the winter, or rafting in the rivers in spring, or even horse back riding to get an overview on the beautiful scenery. One of the closet horseback riding in the area is about 5 minutes away from Leavenworth. Icicle Outfitters & Guides Inc is a locally owned horseback riding business. Give an hours notice and you and you're family can be riding horses in a safely planned out trail by one of their tour guides. Depending on your choice (from 1 or 2 hrs) each of the trails have beautiful scenery and also have a quick history guide on Leavenworth. You're able to pick your own horse, and one of their employees will safely help you up on the chosen horse and give you a quick and easy lesson on how to ride one. Each of the horses are trained and are kid safe!
Another great thing about Leavenworth is that it's in the center between east and west (in Washington state). You can drive east and end up in Wenatchee, Washington. Although you will
leave the small German town behind, you'll visit a different part of Washington state that you haven't seen before. Eastern Washington has more wide open spaces then the West, so you're able to see some more Washingtonian landscape. Still green as the west, but there is a difference. When you head over east you can make a stop at the only Sonics restaurant located in Washington state.

So next time you want to make a trip, head over to Leavenworth, Washington state to experience an unforgettable moment for you and your family!
